In the Spotlight
In this section we will highlight inspirational people who devote themselves to educating and inspiring kids!
Today we are delighted to introduce the fantastic Danielle Boyer.
Danielle is an incredible young award-winning Indigenous (Ojibwe) robotics inventor, author, environmental activist, and tireless advocate for underserved youth, who has been teaching kids since she was ten years old.
As an educator and young designer, she is always looking for innovative resources for her classroom. She wants her students to get their hands on active design educational resources. She tried Apps for Kids when it came out 5 years ago and was very satisfied since it totally corresponded to her objective, enabling her students to design things, hold their own designs in their hands, and solve problems with their inventions.

Inspiration and Challenges
#3DSummer. School’s out for summer, but that doesn’t mean that children stop learning! Whether they are experiencing natural learning environments or understanding more about the world by taking part in fun, engaging challenges, there are always opportunities to develop skills.
So, what about having them illustrate their Summer holiday with Apps For Kids? Whatever they are experiencing or dreaming about, they all can create what summer means to them in 3D. Where would your kids like to go this summer? Beach, mountain, countryside, forest, city, or even the Moon or Mars?

Tips and Tricks
How to add symmetry or mirror your creations in Shape It!
There are two ways that you can add symmetry to your Shape It projects. Check out the gif animations below to learn how!
If you have already started to create a symmetrical project, you can select any of the edges that you wish to split the plane of symmetry. As show in the animation, simply select the edge and then pick mirror from the pop-up toolbar.
If you start by creating half of your project, you can select any face of the intended symmetry plane and use the mirror tool from the pop-up toolbar!
You can search the video page here for the “How to create symmetry. using the mirror tool” video.
What’s New in Apps for Kids
Apps For Kids & BlocksCAD partnership
We are pleased to inform you about our brand new partnership with BlocksCAD to bring innovative & comprehensive STEM lessons to elementary and middle school students everywhere.
BlocksCAD is a 3D design platform that emphasizes the integration of computer science and mathematics into a programmatic design process. The actual 3D models built in Apps for Kids – or simply the ideas unearthed in the sandbox-style ideation of Style It – can then be imported or recreated into BlocksCAD.
