At SOLIDWORKS we have been creating 3D design solutions for professional designers and engineers for over 20 years!
With SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids, we want to create an ecosystem of apps that could empower kids to learn about design, engineering, creativity using Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) to make things in a fun, easy, and friendly environment.
After all, we also want to enable our customers and other engineers or designers who have children of their own, who teach, or who give up their time to support other learning activities. We wanted to create a bridge to share their love of design and engineering with their kids and the wider young creator audience.
Why have we chosen these apps and how can they encourage learning?
To decide what apps to create, we looked at our current portfolio and how our customers are currently creating products today. Although each one of our customers is different, many follow a similar workflow to take an idea from concept through to manufacture.
With SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids, we took this workflow, simplified it, and then used it as the foundation on which each app is created. We chose 3 steps of the workflow to start with:
- Creation
- Enhancement
- Production
Each app is color coded to link them to the workflow stages. Creation is red, enhancement is black and production is purple.
Kids safety is our priority!
We take kids privacy and online safety very seriously.
At each stage of SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids development, we focused on child privacy and safety. We are determined to deliver a service that ensures parents and guardians feel at ease knowing that their child is creating in a safe environment.
SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids is made for kids aged 4 and above and is designed to comply with the United States Federal Trade Commission’s Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
