#EarthDay Challenge – How does Earth Day inspire kids?

Celebrated for the first time on April 22, 1970 under the leadership of Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson who wanted to educate his students about the environment, Earth Day annually marks the anniversary of this environmental movement that has seen other initiatives take precedence, such as the hugely important signature of the Paris Agreement.

We, at Dassault Systèmes, pay a great attention to the Earth and the environment in general and it is important for us to celebrate Earth Day the way it deserves. Indeed, sustainability is at the heart of Dassault Systèmes’ Corporate purpose since we aim at providing business and people with 3DEXPERIENCE universes to imagine sustainable innovations capable of harmonizing product, nature and life.

Whether it is through the “Water for life” project we launched in order to increase awareness of societal and environmental challenges or by joining a global organization focused on enabling digital sustainability for Climate Week 2020, we commit to sustainable actions and products. We also involve students in our mission with the ‘Innovate for Sustainability Challenge’, inviting them to design innovative solutions to some of today’s biggest sustainability challenges using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

The importance of protecting the environment is indisputable, but how do you get this message across to children so that they contribute to environmentally friendly practices? How does Earth Day inspire them?

There may be no universal understanding of creativity. The concept is open to interpretation from artistic expression to problem-solving in the context of economic, social and sustainable development.

Why not have your kids/students contribute to this celebration on their own way, by designing how Earth Day inspires them with our free suite of apps available in SOLIDWORKS Apps For Kids Classroom.

Kids can get inspired by this video celebrating nature through the design of flowers.

Or by this one, showing how to design plastic bottles to illustrate the fight against plastic pollution.

If you are an educator, to participate in the classroom, simply go to the Classroom app page here, create your classroom organization account by clicking “Try Classroom Now”, set up the student profiles and have your students get creative straight away.

If you are a parent, simply create your kid’s account on by clicking “Try Now” at the top of this page and get them started.
When their Earth Day celebration design is finished, share them on social media mentioning #EarthDay and #SWA4K in your posts.
