Welcome to the Apps for Kids Highlight-September Edition

Welcome to the Apps for Kids Highlight-September Edition

Welcome to the 2024-2025 new Academic Year! A new year brings new students, fresh opportunities, and a chance to rethink our approach. This month, we’re excited to share a story about a Boy Scout summer camp where scouts were introduced to SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids, merging outdoor adventure with creative digital design. When we think of scouts, we think of discipline and resourcefulness—qualities we can instill in our students while nurturing their creativity. Let’s kick off the year by encouraging good habits and fostering innovation in our classrooms. This is our STEM highlight for the month!

Awesome projects!

Check out these cool projects that we selected this month. Congratulations to the inspired designers! Discover all the shared projects on the Apps for Kids Website..

How SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids Inspire Creativity

Exploring Engineering at St. Louis Area Beaumont Boy Scout Camp: How SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids Inspire Creativity

The Beaumont Scout Reservation, located in the heart of St. Louis, is well-known for its beautiful landscape, camping adventures, and the spirit of outdoor exploration that embodies the Boy Scouts.

But what if you could mix outdoor learning with the excitement of digital design and engineering? That’s exactly what happened during a recent camp, where scouts were introduced to SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids, an educational suite designed to spark creativity and introduce engineering concepts to young minds.

Every July for 11 years, Judy Hahn from GoEngineer, has been involved with the Boy Scouts and proposes a STEM event., has been involved with the Boy Scouts and proposes a STEM event.

Inspiration and Challenges

Tired of school bags cluttering your classroom and students spilling their books and pens on the floor?

Let them design a bag holder that they can customize and 3D print easily!

And demonstrate how an engineer’s mind finds a solution to a practical problem!

To guide you, here is a video showcasing how to design a nice bag holder.

Do you want to see your students’ or your kids’ designs on SOLIDWORKS Education Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram? Share their A4K creation on social media, mentioning #bagholder AND #swa4k, and we might feature them on our channels!
