Welcome to the Apps for Kids Highlight- June Edition

Welcome to June’s edition of the SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids newsletter! This month, we’re blending creativity, engineering and technology with a nod to French Music Day. Our featured project—a musically-inspired pendant—showcases how 3D CAD and printing transform artistic ideas into tangible designs.

Explore how Apps for Kids can spark innovation in your classroom, inspiring young minds to connect STEM with artistry. Let’s create, learn, and innovate together this summer!

Discover Engineering as a Family During Foundry Spring in Kraków

Engineering

This month, we’d like to highlight an initiative led by one of our Polish resellers, SOLIDEXPERT. It took place during Foundry Spring On, a one-of-a-kind Family Engineering Festival held on the historic grounds of the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków. Foundry Spring brought together families, technology enthusiasts, and future innovators. Organized by the Krakodlew company, this event is the only casting-themed festival in Poland designed specifically for families with children. It delivered hands-on experiences with modern technologies, fostering curiosity and igniting a passion for engineering in both young participants and their parents.

Inspiration and Challenges

Every year, on the longest day of the year, France celebrates music with “la Fête de la Musique”. Amateur and professional musicians perform in the streets, music venues, and restaurants, bringing large crowds of music enthusiasts. The event is family-friendly: children often take part in concerts, and toddlers can be seen enjoying music while dancing.

In this month’s video, we’ll show you how to create a musical charm that can be 3D printed as a necklace pendant, earrings, bag charm or keyring.

Have a go with this video to help you with your engineering design.

Do you want to see your students’ or your kids’ designs on SOLIDWORKS Education Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram? Share their A4K creation on social media, mentioning #music AND #swa4k, and we might feature them on our channels!
