Discover Engineering as a Family During Foundry Spring in Kraków
This month, we’d like to highlight an initiative led by one of our Polish resellers, SOLIDEXPERT. It took place during Foundry Spring On, a one-of-a-kind Family Engineering Festival held on the historic grounds of the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków. Foundry Spring brought together families, technology enthusiasts, and future innovators. Organized by the Krakodlew company, this event is the only casting-themed festival in Poland designed specifically for families with children. It delivered hands-on experiences with modern technologies, fostering curiosity and igniting a passion for engineering in both young participants and their parents.
Innovation Takes the Spotlight at the SOLIDEXPERT Booth
One of the most engaging attractions at Foundry Spring was the SOLIDEXPERT booth, where participants of all ages discovered the possibilities of design and engineering. Kids had the unique opportunity to create their first 3D designs using SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids, an intuitive, web-based tool that simplifies engineering principles for young learners.
Under the theme “Your First Vehicle Project with SOLIDEXPERT”, children channeled their imaginations into designing aeroplanes, hot air balloons, and futuristic vehicles in 3D. Supported by Agnieszka Galarowicz and Michał Mierzwa from SOLIDEXPERT, the young creators translated their ideas into tangible digital models, exploring geometry, color, and functionality along the way. The energy at the booth was electric, as children not only brought creative designs to life but also experienced the confidence of turning ideas into reality.
Why Choose SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids?
SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids is more than just a design tool—it’s a gateway to exciting concepts in engineering and creativity. Exclusively designed for children aged 4 to 14, this free, online application encourages young minds to solve problems, experiment with designs, and explore their creativity through engineering. By dividing the design process into accessible steps, the apps help budding inventors to dream, design, and build like real engineers.
Available on tablets and other mobile devices, the tool ensures learning remains interactive, fun, and approachable, breaking down complex concepts into engaging hands-on activities ideal for any curious child.
Building a Foundation for Future Innovators
This year’s Foundry Spring highlighted just how powerful the combination of education, technology, and family engagement can be. At the SOLIDEXPERT booth, children didn’t just learn about engineering—they lived it, practicing critical thinking and honing skills that will serve them throughout their academic and professional lives. For many, it was their first step on a lifelong path of curiosity and invention.
The event also underscored an important truth: engineering is no longer confined to technical workshops or professional spaces. With tools like SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids, it’s possible to nurture engineering skills in the place where creativity begins—right at home, as a family.
Start Your Journey Today
Foundry Spring is over, but the engineering adventure doesn’t have to stop. Introduce your children to the world of design with SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids and help them take their first steps toward a future brimming with innovation.
A huge thank you to the SOLIDEXPERT team for their contribution.
